CHAPTER 9

Updating the DR HDMI 8K Firmware

The firmware is flashed from the CONFIG page of the embedded web server, from any browser-based device on the same network.

Before you start

Download the latest firmware for your unit from the downloads page, where every release is listed with its release notes. If you are unsure which version you are running, check the OLED display, or the header of any page of the web server.

Once downloaded and extracted you will have a directory containing the update file and, for convenience, the complete IP command list as a text file. The version number in the file name depends on the revision you downloaded.

The update

  1. Open the web server and scroll to the bottom of the CONFIG section.
  2. Click Choose File and select the DR HDMI 8K firmware file.
  3. Once the correct file is selected its name appears on the CONFIG page. Click SEND to start flashing.
  4. A progress message appears in the footer of the CONFIG section. Wait, and do not disconnect the unit while the upgrade is running.
  5. When the update completes a confirmation notification appears.
  6. Wait for the OLED to come back on, then click REFRESH.

After the update, the top section of the web server and the OLED will both report the new firmware version.

Expect a quiet moment: there will be no OLED logo or info for roughly 15 seconds while the unit restarts and reconfigures itself. Once ready, the logo and info page return.

If the update will not run

Try another device on the same network, or a different browser on the same device. The update path is a plain browser upload, so a browser extension or a restrictive network can be enough to interrupt it.
