The CONFIG Section: Display, Network and Resets

Everything that is not EDID lives here: how the OLED behaves, how the unit gets its IP address, and the reset and hot-plug tools.

Display and behaviour

  • HTPC MODE — on or off. Useful for Windows systems that misplace icons when a secondary display is turned off or the machine resumes from standby. HTPC mode is not compatible with an HDCP signal.
  • OLED DISPLAY — enabled by default, and can be turned off entirely if the display is distracting in a home-theatre rack.
  • OLED FADE — custom timing in seconds before the OLED fades. Set it to 0 to keep the OLED always active. Default is 30 seconds.
  • ROTATE 180 DEG — off by default; flips the OLED for units mounted upside down.
  • OLED PAGE — which info page is shown at startup.
  • TX +5V FORCE — on by default. Set to off and the display at the TX output will not be detected by the unit, as if the HDMI cable were physically disconnected.

IP configuration

Changes in this section are applied only after a reboot or power cycle.

  • DHCP — when on, the unit retrieves a dynamic IP automatically.
  • mDNS — when on, the unit offers a URL shortcut such as http://DR8K-xx.local.
  • CURRENT IP CONFIGURATION — displays the active IP address, mask, gateway and MAC address.
  • CONFIGURE STATIC IP — enter address, mask and gateway. DHCP must be off to use static values.
  • SET IP — apply the IP configuration changes.
  • IP INTERRUPTS — some control systems need this on. Default is off.
  • IP PORT — the IP/Telnet port; default is 2201.
  • SET PORT — apply the port change. A reboot or power cycle is required.

Actions and resets

  • ISSUE HOTPLUG — click Send to perform a soft reset of the HDMI chain. This is the fastest way to make a source re-read a changed EDID.
  • REBOOT UNIT — restart the DR HDMI 8K completely.
  • EXPORT CONFIG — export a text file with the full list of settings and setup information. See the config export chapter.
  • RESET TO FACTORY DEFAULTS — type RESET in the factory default field and click RESET. A power cycle is needed afterwards.
  • EDID FACTORY SETTINGS — tick the check box, type RESET in the field and click RESET to return EDID settings to factory defaults.
  • FW UPDATE — select the firmware file and click SEND. See the firmware update chapter.
  • REFRESH — reload the current page.
